CLEVERPREP’s engaging SQE legal content is hosted on Brainscape, an interactive browser and app-based study platform. Our flashcard prompts and distilled legal rules use Brainscape’s forced recall and spaced repetition algorithm which asks students to rate how well they knew each legal rule based on the prompt, and cycles the legal content for the SQE in a way which forms the strongest long term memory and understanding. By sorting the vast array of legal content based on your subjective knowledge, you effectively filter the content into a personalised, dynamic collection of rules you need to focus on the most. This adds structure to your SQE preparation and puts you in control of your learning, which you should see reflected in your practice question scores.
We have personally used our own curated content with the Brainscape study algorithm to pass the New York bar exam, as well as SQE1 and SQE2 in the top quintile. The idea is forcing yourself to recall a fact, self-rating your knowledge such that you see the things you need to know more often, and doing that at intervals over time, leads to superior knowledge and understanding of whatever you were studying.
If you purchase either the SQE1 bundle or SQE2 bundle, you will also receive the CLEVERPREP study tracker spreadsheet which allows you to note when you studied a particular subject/sub-topic such that you ensure you are revisiting the information within the required timeline to maximise long-term memory (we recommend between 4 and 5 days later). Repeat this 5 or more times for the entire collection of 3,400 flashcards across the SQE syllabus (this will take around 12 weeks) and apply your knowledge in practice questions, and you will have a strong enough grasp of the legal content to improve your confidence going into the exams. Stronger knowledge underpins a relaxed mindset, which enable proper execution of your question strategy (which is a separate topic for which we are releasing other content shortly).
Creating an account on Brainscape
After you have purchased flashcards, you will receive a unique access code from us containing free access to Brainscape Pro (3 months for bundles and 1 month for individual subjects [subject to max of one free month per student for individual subjects]) and a link to create an account. You will require a Brainscape Pro account to use CLEVERPREP’s flashcards. We recommend 10-12 weeks for the full SQE syllabus using our flashcards, but you can purchase additional Pro access from CLEVERPREP or from Brainscape directly if you want to extend your study. Subject to maintaining this subscription with Brainscape, your purchase from us is for unlimited access to the CLEVERPREP SQE content.
Please note that you do not need to consistently maintain your Pro subscription; only when you want to use the content. You can let the subscription lapse and restart in the future and your access to the CLEVERPREP SQE content will still be valid. This can be helpful if you plan to take a break between SQE1 and SQE2, and wish to utilise the same flashcards to learn the legal content during your SQE2 prep.
